This year’s Jazz Choir Cabaret was a dazzling spectacle of rhythm and harmony. The Jazz Choir’s talent and hard work was on full display as they effortlessly transitioned from swinging jazz tunes to soulful ballads, showcasing their range and emotional depth. It was impossible not to be moved by the genuine emotion radiating from each performer.
This year’s Cabaret was held in the Emerson common room, which was transformed into a NYC-style jazz club, with elegant tables, delicate lighting, gourmet appetizers, deserts, and hand crafted mocktails all included in the ticket price. (Thanks you to our community supporters!) This provided an immersive experience, transporting the audience into the heart of a jazz club from a bygone era.

Led by their incredibly talented director, Ms. Amanda Bistolfo, and choreography under the expert direction of Jeff Teague, with accompaniment by pianist Maya, as well as the DHS jazz combo, the choir sang and danced across the stage in a nonstop celebration.
Beyond the musical and visual spectacle, the camaraderie and passion of the students were palpable. It was evident that the Jazz Choir has forged a tight-knit community, united by their shared love for music and their dedication to their craft. The energy they exuded was infectious, and the audience couldn’t help but be swept up in their collective enthusiasm.
Davis High School’s 2023 Jazz Choir Cabaret was an unforgettable evening and afternoon of exceptional musicality, breathtaking choreography, and a profound sense of joy, but also with a send of sadness knowing that Director Bistolfo will be leaving at the end of this year. It was an extraordinary display of talent and a true celebration of the power of music in our schools, reminding us all of the remarkable abilities of our youth and the transformative magic of the performing arts.
